 TUBERCULOSIS PROGRAM
Control and Prevention of Tuberculosis in NCD

 What is the Tuberculosis Program?
The Tuberculosis Program of the NCD Provincial Health Authority is responsible for the Control & Prevention of the spread of TB among the residents of NCD. It further ensures TB services such as screening, diagnostics and treatment is available to those affected by TB. The program is part of the Disease Control Unit within the Public Health Division of the NCD Provincial Health Authority. The program implements its activities in alignment with the National TB Strategic Plan, National Health Plan, and the WHO Global End TB Strategy Plan.

 Key Benefits

  • Curing Illness and Saving Lives: Effective treatment can cure TB, preventing death and severe long-term health problems.
  • Stopping the Spread: Identifying and treating individuals with active TB is crucial to prevent transmission to family, friends, and the wider community.
  • Improving Quality of Life: Successful treatment allows individuals to recover, regain strength, return to work or school, and live full, productive lives.
  • Preventing Drug Resistance: Ensuring patients complete their treatment correctly helps prevent the development and spread of drug-resistant TB, which is harder and more expensive to treat.
