Welcome to NCD Provincial Health Authority

The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) manages 12 Level 3 health facilities in Port Moresby, with seven directly operated by NCDPHA and five run by partner organizations. These facilities mainly provide primary health care and some secondary care, helping to ease the burden on Port Moresby General Hospital.

In December 2024, two new facilities—the Metoreia Urban Health Centre and the 6 Mile Polyclinic—were opened, further strengthening the healthcare network. Among the key facilities is the 9 Mile Clinic, which, along with others, serves a growing urban population of over 400,000 people. These health centers address both communicable and non-communicable diseases, playing a crucial role in improving health services in the city.

The National Capital District (NCD) covers an area of 240 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 513,265 in 2021. The projected population for 2024, based on electorates, is recorded in the National Health Information System (NHIS).
