Statement by Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of NCD
Hon. Powes Parkop, MP
As Governor of the National Capital District, I believe the health and well-being of our people is very important. I thank the NCD Health Authority and all our hardworking doctors, nurses, and health workers who continue to serve our city. While we have made progress in providing health services, I know there is still more to be done so that everyone no matter their background can access good healthcare. My focus is on improving basic health services, especially for mothers and children, preventing diseases, and promoting healthy living through community awareness, exercise, and better nutrition.
I know the government cannot do this alone. That is why I am calling on everyone, community leaders, churches, schools, NGOs, and every resident, to work together with us to build a healthier NCD. We are upgrading hospitals and clinics, training more health workers, and improving their working conditions. I encourage everyone to take care of their health and support community health programs. Together, we can create a city where every person has the chance to live a healthy, safe, and happy life.
As we continue to make progress in healthcare, it’s important to ensure that our hospitals and clinics are well-equipped to handle the needs of our people. We are investing in new equipment and improving the infrastructure of our health centers to ensure that quality care is available to everyone. The goal is to make sure that people can receive treatment close to home without having to travel far.
I also want to highlight the importance of mental health. Many people face challenges that affect their well-being, and it is essential that we provide support for mental health services. We will work to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and provide more resources for those who need help. Together, we can create a community that values and takes care of the well-being of all its members.
