OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THE STAFF TRANSIT HOUSE & STAND BY GENERATOR AT 6-MILE POLY CLINIC

National Capital District, Port Moresby 29th July 2025- The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority’s (NCDPHA) management has officially launched the staff Transit House and a 24 hours stand-by Generator at Six Mile Poly Clinic. The launching marks the contributing effort and commitment of the NCDPHA’s Management, National Capital District Commission (NCDC) and Moresby North East District Development Authority (DDA’s) to provide better health care in National Capital District and Moresby North East Electorate.

The District Development Authority of Moresby North East Chief Executive Officer Mr. Davis Kia said the Effective Health Service delivery in the district and throughout Port Moresby is vital. “The Member for North East Hon. John Kaupa is very vocal in providing better health services in his district and has plans to assist all existing clinics in his electorate,” said Mr. Kia. He further emphasized that the Moresby North East DDA’s will continue to work with the Management of NCD PHA to provide better health services to the people.

The Deputy Director for Medical Services at Port Moresby General Hospital Dr. Henao Asa said that the Emergency Department at PMGH now focuses on the patient who really needs their services as a result of category 3 services being moved to 6-mile clinics. “In the past, approximately 80 percent of the patients under category 3 services are seen at the Emergency Department at PMGH but today is decreases to 40 percent when 6- mile started operating as a 24-hour clinic,” said Dr. Asa.   

The Chief Executive Officer for NCD Provincial Health Authority Dr. Robin Oge said that the Management are now focusing on developing Six Mile Poly Clinic to be fully functional as a 24-hour clinic to assist the Emergency Department at PMGH. “The launching of the Staff Transit House and the Standby Generator indicates the commitment of NCDPHA’s management to provide better health services to the people of Moresby North East and National Capital District,” said Dr. Oge. He further emphasized that the Boards and management are working towards improving the health indicator of NCD.
